NotesRegistrations now open for UK’s biggest annual media driving day on Thursday 24 May 2018.
All major car brands booked to attend, with the latest, most desirable cars available to drive back-to-back.
Ever-popular event offers unrivalled vehicle selection and essential networking for journalists.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has opened registration for Test Day 2018, the UK’s biggest media test driving day, taking place at Millbrook Proving Ground on Thursday 24 May. SMMT is calling all journalists with an interest in automotive to apply for the opportunity to put hundreds of the latest, most desirable high tech cars through their paces at one of the world’s most demanding test tracks.

SMMT’s Test Day has been bringing together journalists and manufacturers since 1979, demonstrating the latest trends, diversity and technological advancement of the UK new car market. For a quarter of a century, the event has been held at the famous Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. Over the years, it has welcomed thousands of budding and expert journalists to spend the day test driving cars on 40 miles of test tracks – including the exhilarating chicanes of the hill route, high speed bowl, specially designed off-road routes and city handling circuit.

While the first Millbrook Test Day back in 1992 featured a line-up of Mini Macros, Rover Metros, Ladas and Lancias, this year’s event will showcase the latest in 21st century driver assistance, comfort and connected technology. With everything from city cars and superminis, to sports cars and SUVs powered by the most advanced zero and low emission electric, hybrid, hydrogen, petrol and diesel technologies, the event will give journalists the chance to test-drive some of the safest, cleanest and most desirable models ever to come to market.

Test Day is free to attend for SMMT-accredited media. To register your interest, email events@smmt.co.uk. Please include the following details: Your name and job title; the title of the outlet(s) you will be representing; their website(s) and contact details. A member of the team will then contact you to verify you are a working journalist or writer and sign you up to the event.
