HARNESS MANUFACTURER HITS WIN MILESTONE As official harness manufacturer for Brawn GP, Willans have developed a special lightweight restraint system for this year`s entry, the championship-winning BGP 001. This high-tech harness weighs less than one kilogramme, using a variety of specialist metals. Willans established its place in history after reaching the 250-win milestone at the Australian Grand Prix in March. With Brawn`s recent run of success, the total currently stands at 255 wins. The Berkshire-based manufacturer is just one of many companies already signed up for the Autosport International Show, to be held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on 14-17 January 2010. "We are extremely proud of achieving 250 Grand Prix wins at the start of this year, especially because we are a relatively small, family-run business," said Managing Director Simon Perkins. "Willans was one of the first harness manufacturers in motorsport, and over the last 40 years we`ve expanded into many other markets. Besides Formula One, Willans harnesses have been used in land speed record cars, including the current title holder Thrust SSC, in aircraft, boats and even the Mir Space Station. "The 2009 Autosport International show introduced us to various defence contractors, for whom we now supply components, and soon whole harnesses. It`s the hub for the UK motorsport industry, an extremely important date for meeting customers and other businesses within the industry." "250 Grand Prix wins is a great achievement for any company, but for a niche manufacturer like Willans, it`s something to be extremely proud of," said Haymarket Exhibitions Show Director Ian France. "Every year, Autosport International brings the cream of the motorsport industry together, and Willan`s F1 success really underlines the depth of talent on show." For those in need of safety equipment, Willans won`t be the only supplier at Autosport International in January. Corbeau Seats, Stilo Helmets and Demon Tweeks are just a few of the many international suppliers exhibiting protective equipment at the show.
