COSWORTH SUPPORTS BEN AT SIMON CHARLES AUCTION

The forthcoming Simon Charles Race and Rally Car Auction, on 19 February in Manchester, has attracted interesting memorabilia from Cosworth, who are donating a percentage of the sales commission to BEN.

Among the many items which Cosworth have entered into their auction catalogue is a magnificent 8ft steel sculpture of a "Man Waving a Chequered Flag" created by Tim Tolkien, great nephew of J.R.R.Tolkien, the acclaimed writer of`Lord of the Rings. Also included in the Cosworth Memorabilia sale is a TJ V10 engine, as fitted to the Jaguar F1 car. Each Lot can be viewed at www.racecarauction.co.uk, by clicking onto "view lots".

This special racing car event will not only feature formula racing and rally cars, but also the support vehicles and motorhomes used by the team during the racing season. It will be complemented by specialist racing part suppliers and memorabilia specialists. Simon Charles have developed their unique online bidding system to complement the live auction, which is attracting interest from the USA to Japan.

Charles Davis, Director of Fundraising & Communications at BEN, is delighted with this initiative, commenting: "The auction is being publicised on Chris Evans` `Drive Time` programme and on BBC TV covering the build-up to the auction, which should ensure great publicity for everyone. BEN is very grateful to Cosworth for supporting us with this initiative."
